ILLIA BROVENKO CV
How I became a designer
During the last twelve years my career has been constantly connected with art. I devoted most of this time to performance with fire and light suits. Everything from costumes, staging and lighting to the management of our trips around the world, my wife and I did it ourselves. And somewhere in the middle of this process, I had the task of editing a promo video for our duet. From that moment on, I fell in love with the video production industry. But editing didn't seem as exciting to me as creating motion graphics and visual effects. Therefore, over time, I began to dive into these topics, the result of which you can see in my portfolio.
From October 2018 till now
SELFEDUCATION
Selfeducation is where it all started, and it's the part of a designer's job that never ends. In 2018, I started studying video editing, after which I delved into the creation of graphics in After Effect, and then progressively comprehended various aspects of the profession.
At the same time, I worked as a performer and did small projects for learning and small freelance projects.
October 2020 - January 2021
POST PRODUCTION COURCE
Over time, it became clear that in order to obtain more comprehensive and in-depth knowledge, the help of professionals is required. So I went to the video post-processing courses from the Isaev Workshop. In 4 months I got the basic skills to use such programs as Nuke, 3D Equalizer, Cinema 4D, a bit of Houdini and others. And most importantly, I learned the pipeline of creating graphics integrated into the video - I studied tracking, clean-up, integration and creation of a 3D part, compositing and color correction. In this course, I created a HIVE video, which you can see in the portfolio.
February 2021 - February 2022
OPRST MEDIA
MOTION DESIGNER
After completing the course, I was able to get a job as a motion designer at the OPRST Media studio, located in Mariupol, Ukraine. Due to Covid-19 as of August 2021 our work has been remote. While working in the studio, I worked on video editing, 2D animation and 3D animation projects, in most cases it could be advertising and explainer videos. Examples of works from that period are 2 videos for Mitech company in my portfolio.
July 2021 - November 2021
MOTION DESIGN COURCE
In parallel with the work in the studio, I took another course in Motion Design at Isaev's Workshop. This course delved into the 3D motion design pipeline in more detail. There I learned the principles of working with Cinema 4D and RedShift render, and also went through all the stages of creating a video - from a request from a client to the final color correction and delivery of the result. We went through all the stages - art direction, mood board, rough animation, asset development, texturing, look dev, post-processing and sound design. The result of this course was a Tesla video in my portfolio.
November 2021 - till now
FREELANCE
Since the studio had little work during Covid-19, I started doing freelance projects from third-party employers in my spare time. After Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, my city was destroyed, the OPRST studio ceased to exist. But I managed to get my family, two cats and a computer to a safer place. Now I am in Ukraine in the city of Vinnytsia and I am ready for new projects. So get in touch, I think we can create something great for you and your business.
